Well guys it is now Sunday night onboard the Disney Magic! Wow what an exciting event it has been since we boarded!
The Port of Los Angeles was lets just say was nothing like Port Canaveral! Very interesting to say the least. However we were onboard the ship by 11:40am. Also another positive item was that there are no lines to board, rather you receive a boarding pass with a number and when your number is called you then board.
Upon boarding the ship all guest received free drinks, you could feel the excitement from the crew members to the guests! We went directly to Topsider and had lunch, well Scott had lunch and I had 5 pieces of hard salami and then some tomatoes, onions and cucumbers with Italian dressing (take note of this dish-I eat it all the time on the ship!) After lunch we walked around the ship to find old friends and meet new ones! While walking around on deck 5, Chuck and Dean boarded the ship, YEA our group is now complete! They then went to lunch and the rest of us waited for our room to get ready. Melinda and I sat in the hall and talked until about 1:15pm when our room was ready.
FINALLY we get to ditch all of our carry on bags and lap top-whew what a relief. Upon entering the room we were greeted with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from our friends Pam and Kay-THANK YOU! We unpack the one bag that had been delivered and then laid down for a nap.
5:00pm-Sailaway Party is in full swing, all guest received a plastic Mickey hand to wave that said
“Bon Voyage Disney Magic Heads Back East 8/20/05-09/03/05" As we pulled away from the dock, the cast from the terminal was out saying good bye to the ship for one last time. We even saw a couple blowing kissing and waving! The Magic will be missed here but it is time for her to go home were she belongs! Once we enter the channel we receive a Fire Boat water gun escort, which produces rainbows for the Magic to sail through. Everyone was now on the front of the ship to see this, it is surprising that we did not tip the ship on end! No time to watch the ship. Shutters had some great pictures of the Magic leaving the port, both from the ground and the air! After dinner we went to the gift shops to see the new merchandise, what a waste as it was wall to wall people, we left with nothing!
Sunday morning we woke for breakfast at 7:00am! After breakfast we went to the DVC celebration. Again tons of people and we left with out usual red hats and luggage tags. At 12:00 noon we had our DIS meet at Rocking Bar D-it was great meeting everyone. Also at noon the captain gives us an update on Hurricane Hillary which is trying to cause problems for us at Cabo. The captain informed us that Hillary will be to the north of us tomorrow and we should be docking at Cabo around 6:30am!
Also this afternoon Willie Friar gave a Panama Canal presentation, we chose not to go but this presentation is shown on the room TV-it is a great show that explains our journey through the canals and how it works. I went to see Ice Princess in the Buena Vista Theater, it wasn’t until the show ended that I realized I was one of only a few guys, mostly tween girls-LOL! Scott took a nap while I was at the movies and then we changed spots! Oh crap I missed lunch! This time I had 3 cherry tomatoes with ranch dressing and then my tomato, cucumber and onion salad-good thing I love that dish! Scott had a feast once again!
Tonight at dinner was the Mickey Mouse Club dinner, our table of 11 all wore our MM Club shirts and Mickey ears. After dinner we watched a new show called “Art Imitating Art”, it was a good show and very interesting. We then retired to the room to find a book about the Panama Canal that has the date of our canal crossing printed on the front cover-it is a beautiful book that will look great at home on the coffee table. I was ready for bed, however Scott then insisted that I do this entry. Sorry the updates are slow, however I am on vacation, so get over it! LOL
Oh I almost forgot, I meet Don and Scott from California-I think it is mine and Scott’s alter egos. They seem like great guys and I hope I get to chat with them some more. Actually all the guys that we have talked to are great (Bill, Bill and Bob) Also not sure of the official count of kids onboard but there are not all that many I would say between 600 and 800.
